Motorola, Intel sign multi-year smartphone and tablet deal

Motorola and Intel have announced a new partnership that will involve Intel processors being used in future Motorola smartphones and tablets.
Motorola will make devices that use Intel's Atom processor and run the Android operating system. The companies promise that the smartphones and tablets will have high performance and long battery life as well as advanced imaging and video capabilities.
Motorola did not say when the new devices would be released exactly, but we expect to see them later this year. The agreement between the two companies is for multiple years and multiple devices, but it was not specified exactly how long the arrangement is for.
The use of Intel processors in Motorola's devices is a significant departure from the ARM-based processors that it has used until now. Intel has been trying to break into the mobile device market for some time now, and this is the biggest push from it that we have seen to date. Motorola did not say that it would stop using ARM entirely, so we expect to see both Intel and ARM-based devices to come from the company in the future.
