OPERA MINI 6.5 RELEASED FOR SYMBIAN, iOS, JAVA AND BLACKBERRY AND OPERA MOBILE 11.5 FOR SYMBIAN

Yesterday Opera released the new versions of their popular mobile web browsers – Opera Mini 6.5 (client version – “Opera Mini/6.5.27055/hifi/accentports”) for all major mobile platforms (iOS, J2ME, Blackberry, Symbian S60) and Opera Mobile 11.5 for Symbian S60 only. Besides there is also a MeeGo specific build available at Opera Labs. These versions are minor update releases with some new features and bug-fixes. Incidentally these versions have already been released for Android just over a week ago. Following are the new features in these versions –

1. An interesting feature called data usage counter option under “Help” menu has been added that shows the “Data Savings” with Opera Mini (and Mobile). This counter shows how much data Opera Mini has saved for you (because of the server-side compression technique that Opera uses).
2. An easy bookmarking option in the form of a star icon besides site-address in the URL bar. Now you can easily bookmark a website just by touching/selecting the star icon appearing along with the site address in URL bar (just like in Firefox).
3. Improved Opera Turbo and video support in Opera Mobile
4. A new option added under “Settings” menu is toggle “Status bar” (which shows/hides phone’s signal and battery status bar) in Symbian version of Opera Mini and Mobile.
5. Another new option “Network test” has been added under “Settings/Advanced” in Opera Mini 6.5 – to check and troubleshoot data connection. This option can also be accessed directly via entering server:setup command in URL bar.
You can download new versions by accessing m.opera.com via mobile or opera.com/mobile
